(Pirouettes)

Hunting, flying birds and game are familiar subjects in the art of the Tapestry. Nevertheless, it is not obvious to see in this type of fabrics the moment in which the bird is gunned down: the instant between flight and fall, between life and death.

In bird hunting, a specific type of rifle is used. This weapon does not explode a single bullet, but a rose of lead shots, which reach the animal in an approximate way. The little balls penetrate the animal randomly, causing its instant death or seriously injuring it, leaving it time to perform in ridiculous agonizing aerial pirouettes.

From a good distance the explosion of feathers and the last bird’s disjointed poses are picturesque, they could even be considered funny. However, how not to take into consideration the dramatic aspect of a dying creature, literally falling from the sky.
