Scrutai con dovizia il mio viso sullo specchio,
nel meticoloso tentativo di trovare qualcosa fuori posto.
Mi parve che tutto fosse in ordine, ma mi specchiai ancora una volta per esserne certo. Con cura calzai le scarpe.
Poi scelsi il bastone: quello con la testa di leone in argento, perfetto per l’occasione.
Il desiderio di possedere quella giovinetta mi consumava come una febbre.Avrei voluto strapparle quel vestitino a fiori,arrivare alle carni pallide e tenui per farne scempio.

[Diario di un damerino]

Uomo di gusto, frivolo, dai modi affettati e dall’aspetto gentile;
Il Damerino è il maschio il cui unico scopo è conquistare, possedere e conquistare ancora.
Il cavaliere che dentro un’armatura lucente e cesellata ha invaso e saccheggiato interi popoli. Il maschio in giacca e cravatta che assoggetta intere nazioni.

Il Damerino si camuffa, s’agghinda, si traveste: la seduzione è il suo abito. Un caimano che artificiosamente piumato, concorre in una lotta tra galli; uno stendardo con un motto confortante che nasconde un atroce conflitto.

Il Damerino non è mai quello che sembra.

(The Dandy)

I thoroughly gazed at my face in the mirror,in a meticulous attempt at finding something out of place.
It seemed to me like everything was in order, but I gazed again just to make sure. Carefully I wore the shoes.
Then I picked the cane: the one with the silver lion head, right for the occasion. The lust of seizing that damsel was wearing me out like a fever.
I wanted to rip that floral dress off of her,
and get to her pale flesh to ravage it.

A man of taste and affectations, shallow, and kind looking;
The Dandy is a male whose only goal is to conquer, own, and conquer again. The knight in shining armour who has invaded and sacked entire peoples. The male in suit and tie who subjects entire countries.

The Dandy disguises, preens, and dresses himself up: seduction is his suit. A cayman that dressed in cunning feathers competes in a cock fight.
An ensign with a comforting motto that conceals an atrocious conflict.

The Dandy is never what he seems.
