Abbecedario
2016
An ‘abbecedario’ is an alphabet in which 26 simple and recognisable images are placed next to the 26 letters of the alphabet. This format helps children to remember the vowels and consonants by associating them with the pictures of familiar objects. Nowadays it is more likely that a child would have seen more pre-packaged Aia-branded chickens than living, breathing ones. I embroidered an abbeccedario consisting of branding and packaging because these brands and products are today much more familiar than flowers and animals.
